1 September 2017, Friday

On September 1, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov addressed to Tatarstan residents on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge.

“Dear Tatarstan residents! Dear teachers!

From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate all pupils, students, parents, school and kindergarten teachers, workers and old stagers of the Tatarstan education system on the Day of Knowledge and the beginning of a new academic year!

The 1st of September is a state, national holiday in Russia, which once again emphasizes the great importance traditionally attached to the education and upbringing of the younger generation in our country. The Day of Knowledge has neither social nor national borders, proclaiming truly fundamental, universal human values.

Every year, with hearts aflutter, thousands of first-graders look forward to their first call, which will open their way to the fascinating world of knowledge, will be the start of a long journey to adult life. And the future of our republic and the country as a whole depends on how wide and bright this road will be, teachers who will accompany them in schools and universities.

The era of high technology and speeds makes challenging demands on our society and any of us. One who has a solid baggage of knowledge, competencies and can use them in practice, who constantly improves skills and is ready to share them with others will be able to become a truly successful person in the modern world.

Our education should be aimed at acquiring these competencies in harmony with the fostering of citizenship and patriotism, love for the native language, culture and traditions of our ancestors.

Today Tatarstan is one of the leaders in a number of key areas in the field of education and training of highly qualified specialists. Kazan having been chosen as the venue to host WorldSkills Championship in 2019 is a firm confirmation of this. The preparation for this event is underway.

There is no doubt that achievements Tatarstan education have made is mainly due to the tireless efforts of the best representatives of our pedagogical community, pre-school teachers, tutors and enthusiastic teachers. We are sincerely grateful to you for the invaluable contribution that you make to the present and future of our native republic!

Let the academic year be full of new achievements for you!

I wish you happiness, peace, good and well-being!

Happy Knowledge Day, dear Tatarstan residents!

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov".
