Tatarstan President takes part in a ceremony of handing over WorldSkills flag to Kazan

On October 19, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Olga Golodets, who is leading the Russian delegation, became the honoured guests at awarding and closing ceremonies of WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017.

The closing ceremony began with awarding winners in all 50 vocational skills contested at the 44th WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The Russian national team won 12 medals, including six gold, five silver and one bronze, in eleven skills. Andrey Dyubanov and Pavel Fadeev from Tatarstan won two silvers medals in the Mobile robotics discipline. Vadim Polaykov from Tatarstan won a gold medal in the Refrigeration equipment and air conditioning discipline. Participants of the national team from Bashkortostan, Moscow and the Moscow region, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg and Kirov also showed good results at the competition.

The national team was represented by 58 participants, who were involved in all skills. Eight students from Tatarstan competed in seven disciplines as part of the Russian team.

A video-presentation of Russia and the city of Kazan was shown at the closing ceremony. On behalf of the organizing committee of WorldSkills Kazan 2019 Golodets thanked all organizers of the championship and invited everyone to attend the 45th championship to be held in Kazan in 2019.

The closure of the championship continued with a ceremony of handing over the WorldSkills flag to the Russian delegation. Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin received the flag from President of WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 Mubarak Al Shamsi. Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Organizing Committee Olga Golodets, Tatarstan President and Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee Rustam Minnikhanov, as well as members of the Organizing Committee, including Director General of the Union “Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia)” Robert Urazov and Director General of Rusatom State Atomic Energy Corporation Alexey Likhachev took part in the ceremony.
