Mintimer Shaimiev takes part in a solemn event dedicated to the Day of Heroes of the Motherland

On December 11, at the Kazan City Hall, Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of the regional State Council Farid Mukhametshin, Hero of the Soviet Union Boris Kuznetsov, Aide to Tatarstan President Leila Fazleeva and other officials of the republic took part in a solemn event dedicated to the Day of Heroes of the Motherland, which is annually celebrated in Russia on December, 9.

Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation, Heroes of Socialist Labour, Full Cavaliers of the Order of Labor Glory were honored at the event. 

On behalf of the authorities of the republic, Farid Mukhametshin congratulated Tatarstan citizens, who were awarded with the distinguished decorations, saying special workds  about the Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation, who was present at the event. 

“For the first time ever in the history of the republic, Tatarstan State Counsellor, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Revival Regional Foundation, the first President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev has become the only one among the country’s regional heads, who was handed over this award for his outstanding achievements in April this year. During his long-term work he has laid a solid foundation for dynamic social and economic development of Tatarstan,  maintaining civil peace and social harmony, strengthening the federal basis of Russian statehood, and therefore deserves separate acknowledgements and applause,” Chairman of the regional State Council noted.

“It is good that we have such a holiday. At all times, when the destiny of the Motherland is decided, there are new heroes.  There has always been room for heroism in the history of Russia and our multinational people. It is the world’s largest country in terms of space and potential and is always attractive. Therefore, Russia has no right to be weak. We have a lot of room for heroic deeds. It is important to ensure safety and well-being of the country. We are grateful that there have been and will be people, capable of heroism, which is an inexplicable human deed.  We cherish the memory of those who deserved this distinguished title at the cost of their lives. We wish health and well-being to everyone who has been honoured this distinguished title,” Mintimer Shaimiev said in his speech.
