Vladimir Putin and Rustam Minnikhanov visit Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev

On January 25, during his working visit in Kazan (the Republic of Tatarstan), Russian President Vladimir Putin with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, who is in hospital because of illness.

Putin and Minnikhanov told Shaimiev about the meeting with Tatarstan clergy and thanked him “for the work on charity, which he is leading”

Shaimiev was expected to take part in the meeting with the representatives of Muslim religious organizations and the heads of the Bolgar Islamic Academy, which was held the day before, but because of the illness could not participate. 

Putin gave a high appraisal of the atmosphere of coexistence of religions created in Tatarstan.
