On February 20, in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, speaking at a regional video-conference on the results of participation of Tatarstan delegation headed by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov in the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Natalia Tarkaeva said that Metro Cash&Carry Company plans to open 150 small shops in Tatarstan by 2020.

Metro Cash&Carry will develop the franchising project of small-scale selling store chain “Fasol”, Tarkaeva said. The company also plans to launch a pilot project of small-scale selling with a compact urban form.

New form of Metro Cash&Carry Company is a chain of small shops with fresh products close to the residences in dormitory suburb, Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minnulina added.

“This project is considered to be environmentally friendly because it reduces the volume of traffic. That means that the person will not go out to remote locations and big stores to buy food,” she explained.

Minnulina reported that Tatarstan signed over 15 agreements at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi.

“We held 84 meeting with representatives of other regions. Tatarstan President had an eventful programme. In particular, meetings with the Ambassadors of Italy and Israel to Russia were held, where possibilities of increasing the trade turnover were discussed,” the Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency emphasized.

As for the financial part of the signed agreements, it is difficult now to calculate it. Part of the documents has the status of memoranda on cooperation, part of them is a commercial secret.

The Russian Investment Forum was held in Sochi on February 15-16.
