Aleksey Pesoshin: The tournament in memory of Alexander Antonov will contribute to the further development of interest in water polo among young people

On November 30, in Olimp cultural and sport complex in Kazan, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, Head of Tatarstan Department of Federal Security Service Dinar Khamitov, Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the republic Artem Khokhorin and other officials took part in a solemn opening of the traditional water polo tournament among the teams of veterans in the memory of Lieutenant-General Alexander Antonov. 

Water polo is one of the dynamically developing team sports in Tatarstan. “Today, all conditions for the development and popularization of water polo have been created in the republic. Modern sports centres and swimming pools have been built in the municipal regions, where hundreds of young people can be involved in this spectacular sport,” Pesoshin said in his welcoming speech.

“I am sure that carrying out the tournament will contribute to the further development of interest in water polo among young people. And, of course, this is a tribute to the memory of a great man, a leader Alexander Antonov, who loved and respected this sport since his student years,” Tatarstan Prime Minister. Khamitov opened the tournament. Then, the national anthems of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan sounded.
