A decrease in the number of crimes during the New Year holidays recorded in Tatarstan

On January 9, speaking at a briefing at the Government House of the republic, Deputy Police Chief of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic for Protection of Public Order Fhyargat Mukhametzyanov said that 467 crimes were recorded in Tatarstan from the 31st of December to the 7th of January, which is eight per cent less as compared to the same period last year.  

The speaker noted that more than 350,000 people took part in festive events on the night of the 31st of December to 1st of January in Tatarstan.

“In total, about 2,000 police officers ensured safety of citizens and public order during the New Year holidays, and 800 police officers were involved at Christmas. About 300 people have been ensuring order in Christmas tree territories,” Mukhametzyanov said.

According to him, members of the Federal National Guard Troops Service, voluntary people's guards, employees of private security organizations, and municipal employees also took part in ensuring public safety during holidays.
