Address of Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Leila Fazleeva on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions

30 October 2019, Wednesday

Dear citizens of Tatarstan!

The 30th of October is the Day Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions.

This date reminds everyone on earth about the tragic page in the history of our country, about the millions of Soviet people who became victims of a totalitarian, inhuman regime.

There are fewer direct participants and witnesses of those years, it is extremely important to keep the memory of people and events of those years, to continue work on finding mass graves, restoring and perpetuating the names of the dead and rehabilitated.

Together with the Regional Social and Humanitarian Organization of Pensioners and Disabled Victims - Victims of Political Repressions of the Republic of Tatarstan, work is underway to bring up the young generation at “memory lessons” dedicated to the greatest tragedy and to preserve the memory of the repressed compatriots. Our task is to prevent falsification of history.

Events and campaigns dedicated to the memory of people who died and suffered during political repressions will be held in all regions of the republic these days.

We will keep the memory of the events of the past through the years and all times.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Leila Fazleeva
