4 February 2015, Wednesday
On February 4, speaking at the joint collegium session of Tatarstan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Tatarstan Department of Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Natural Resource Use on outcomes of their activity in 2014 and setting tasks for 2015, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the two agencies contribute significantly to the development of the republic.

Tatarstan Minister of ecology and natural resources Artem Sidorov made report on results of the ministry's work in 2014. He informed that the ministry carried out capital repair of waste treatment facilities in Tetyushi and Bolgar towns, Aksubayevo, Baltasi, Vysokaya Gora urban type settlements, Sarmanovo and Muslyumovo villages.

Emissions of harmful substances into surface water sources and atmospheric air were reduced thanks to introducing new modern technologies and facilities.

During 2014 Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources carried out 7962 inspections. 6847 violations were revealed of which 6573 have been eliminated.

In addition, 34 violation enforcement cameras were launched at the sites of uncontrolled dumping in 12 municipal districts and such cameras will be installed in all districts by the first quarter of 2015.

Another problem is inventory of unauthorized mining sites of minerals to be held in 2014.

Rustam Minnikhanov said Tatarstan ecologists have necessary up-to-date equipment to monitor environment and reveal violations in this field. According to him, another important moment is giving environmental education to children. In general, Minnikhanov highly appreciated the activity of Tatarstan Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Tatarstan Department of Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Natural Resource Use.

Summarizing, Tatarstan President handed in awards to employees of both agencies and emphasized that "we will lose our competitive advantages without paying attention to ecological issues".
