Scientific research and development of Tatarstan Agricultural Research Institute on upgrading the efficiency of agricultural complex presented at a meeting at Tatarstan Government House

On December 22, at the Government House of the republic at a regional video-conference with participation of all regions of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov was presented the scientific research and development of Tatarstan Agricultural Research Institute to improve the efficiency of agricultural complex.

Head of Tatarstan Agricultural Research Institute Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science Kazan Scientific Center of Russian Academy of Sciences (Kazan SС of RAS) Marsel Tagirov reported that the institute works in a unified system with Tatarstan agricultural complex and aims at providing the scientific support for sustainable development of agriculture and the assistance in achieving competitiveness and market efficiency. The facilities and trial fields of the institute are the process area for promotion of advanced technologies and staff training.

The Institute effectively works with large international and Russian projects such as Ray Select (Germany), Ekada, National Academy of Sciences’ projects of Belorussia, with leading research centres of All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Industry, Krasnodar and Stavropol institutions, using their scientific equipment potential.

There are 42 plant breeding centers in Russia including Tatarstan Agricultural Research Institute.

“Selection and seed industry are inseparable processes where the complex approach is required. Our varieties are widely introduced not only in the republic, but also in other Russian regions, where the area of its seeds exceeds 1.8 million hectares. Tatarstan Agricultural Research Institute offers series of valuable winter and spring wheat with high quality of gluten, which have been widespread. For the first time in history, spring wheat varieties of local selection have exceeded 50 per cent of crops in Tatarstan in 2017,” Tagirov said.

“We hope that integration into a strong state of the Federal Research Centre will allow us to work more efficiently in interdisciplinary research to increase the efficiency of agricultural complex and increase prestige of science in cooperation with large business structures,” Tagirov concluded.
