Marat Akhmetov: As many as 23 per cent of the area has been sown with spring crops in Tatarstan

On May 11, speaking at a regional video-conference held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with participation of all municipalities and Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Akhmetov reported on the current sowing campaign in Tatarstan.

Akhmetov said that for today about 400 thousand hectares or 23 per cent of the plan have been sown with spring crops in Tatarstan.

According to forecasts, there will be no rain until the end of May. At the same time, hundreds of tonnes of moisture per hectare are lost every 24 hours because of constant windy weather. "We need to save moisture in all possible ways," the Minister said.

Then, for better assessing the pace of the sowing, Akhmetov reported on the situation in different climatic zones of the republic.
