Welcoming the guests, Seko said that a plan of cooperation between Japan and Russia is being implemented in eight areas, and some projects in such fields as chemistry and medical science are being implemented in Tatarstan.

Two years ago, the Ammoniy  complex, one of the world's largest plants to produce ammonia, methanol and granulated carbamide was built with the participation of such Japanese corporations as Sojitz and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and a project for the construction of the second stage of the plant is being developed.

He continued that cooperation in the field of medicine is also being actively developed. Seko noted that the joint project is being implemented by  the Eidos Company, the RIKEN Research Institute and the Juntendo University to produce a mobile system for diagnosing infectious diseases. Collaborative development of robotic simulators for surgical intervention is carried out jointly with the Juntendo Medical University.

Hiroshige Seko expressed his hope that the cooperation in these areas will continue at a high level.

In his turn, Minnikhanov thanked Seko for the opportunity to meet and noted efforts of senior officials of Russia and Japan aimed to support joint projects.

Tatarstan President reminded that Tatarstan has a good experience of cooperation with Japanese partners. In particular, technologies and capitals of many Japanese companies were used in the republic in the construction of petrochemical production facilities, the development of health care and agriculture, computerization and other spheres. Enterprises of Tatarstan are cooperating with such leading Japanese companies as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Sojitz, Yokogawa Electric Corporation, Institute for Physical and Chemical Research “Ricken" and others.

“The Ammoniy project is unique and receives financial support from Japan. We are very proud that such a project was implemented," Tatarstan President said.

"It was noted at the talks between Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Arkady Dvorkovich and Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, that you are planning to visit Russia and we will be happy if you pay a visit to Tatarstan," Minnikhanov addressed Hiroshige Seko.

According to Minnikhanov, the IT sector is one of the promising areas of cooperation. We are planning to create an all-Russian centre for Internet technologies at the Innopolis Special Economic Zone, he said.

At the end of the meeting, Tatarstan President invited Hiroshige Seko, as well as Japanese athletes and fans to attend the FINA World Cup to be held in Kazan in 2018.
