Rustam Minnikhanov and Director General of Yandex Company Aleksandr Shulgin discuss prospects for further cooperation with Tatarstan

On October 9, at his meeting with Director General of Yandex Company Aleksandr Shulgin in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov discussed prospects for further cooperation with Yandex Company. 

Minnikhanov offered to set up several working groups concerning all areas of cooperation to quickly address issues and promote projects. For example, the educational sphere is one of the areas of cooperation.

In 2016, Yandex developed an educational project  the “Yandex. Lyceum”. Five sites for training young programmers will be opened in the republic.

As part of the preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, cooperation in the field of sports is expected. For example, sports infrastructure facilities, as well as hotels and restaurants located in Kazan and in the republic can be placed on Yandex maps.

As for the sphere of transport, the interaction in terms of using the Yandex.Taxi, including for officials, was discussed.

Moreover, another promising area for cooperation in the field of transport is the exchange of information and the creation of data services concerning motor roads that are blocked for repair, which will allow improving transport logistics, avoiding traffic jams, etc.

Speaking about the Yandex.Lyceum  project, Shulgin noted that the company itself is suffering from shortage of personnel, that is why such educational program was developed. The project is aimed at attracting the attention of students to programming and their further training.
