Rustam Minnikhanov: the way of Malaysia economic development deserves deep respect

“Tatarstan may learn a lot from Malaysia as one of the intensively developing states of Southeast Asia”, - President of Tatarstan said at a meeting with governor of Penang state Mr Tun Dato Seri Utama Abdul Rakhman Abbas. The meeting took place at the Kazan Kremlin.
Greeting members of representative delegation led by governor of the state Mr Abbas Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan is eager to develop cooperation within the framework of established Russian-Malaysian relations. “We are now studying Malaysian experience in attracting foreign investments. RT Agency for investment development headed by Linar Yakupov is working on this issue”, - he said.
One more important area is experience in using financial tools, in particular “sukuk” obligations. Malaysia is the leading state in this issue. Head of Tatarstan considers educational sector to be the essential part of Tatarstan-Malaysian relations. Kazan state medical university intends to prepare medical specialists for Malaysia.
By words of Rustam Minnikhanov, Tatarstan is ready to become the place for Malaysia in terms of entering the Russian market. Malaysia in its turn will help republican enterprises enter markets of Southeastern Asia.
“We are open for cooperation in many spheres”, - Rustam Minnikhanov said. He stressed that Tatarstan had learnt a lot from Malaysia and the way of Malaysia economic development deserves deep respect.
Responding greetings of governor of Penang state Mr Abbas Rustam Minnikhanov said he would consider the invitation to visit Malaysia after realization of some agreements and for summing up interim results of mutually beneficial cooperation.
CEO of Al-Aza group of companies Mohamed Hedar Shariff presented the project of constructing International Exhibition&Convention Center in Kazan near the highway leading to international airport “Kazan”. It is expected that the area of such exhibition centre will mane 500 hectares and it will be divided in several zones (expo-centre, hotel area, congress hall, etc)
RT President considers the reject to be interesting for republic. Memorandum on cooperation between RT Agency for investment development and Al-Aza company was signed at the meeting. Director of the agency Linar Yakupov and CEO of “Al-Aza” group of companies Mohamed Hedar Shariff put their signatures in the document.
On 9 June upon his arrival to the Kazan International Airport, the Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov was welcomed by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin.
In Kazan Sergey Lavrov will take part in a meeting of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of State-Participants of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
On 5 May, speaking at a regular meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin informed that currently 63 school catering units are under repairs with the amount of work completed reaching 15 per cent.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
