Rustam Minnikhanov: training of highly skilled specialists is one of the most important issues for Tatarstan agro-industrial complex

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has visited one of the branches of South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI).

Being one of the leading research institutes in South Australia state (Australia), SARDI favours competitiveness of its agricultural and industrial sectors in the world. Studies in the sphere of foodstuff and agriculture are being carried out in the institute.

Director for scientific partnership of SARDI, Professor Simon Maddocks told about activity of Roseworthy, branch of SARDI. The research area of the branch is agriculture, including genetics and selection in livestock sector, integrated bio systems.

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov was interested in results of research in the sphere of land reclamation, drought-resisting features of plants, etc. He informed about dry abnormal summer 2010 in Tatarstan. Specialists have started investigating existing world experience in this issue seriously.

Head of republic added as well that studies in the sphere of livestock breeding (reproductive selection) are also interesting for Tatarstan.

According to Rustam Minnikhanov currently training of highly skilled specialists is one of the most important issues for Tatarstan agro-industrial complex. He offered leadership of the institute considering opportunity of training Tatarstan specialists on their base. They could be undergraduate, graduate students who need certain specialization and young scientists already working on research work. Priority spheres are livestock sector and livestock breeding, seed and plant growing.

Later on research laboratories, enclosures for cattle, facilities for producing forage with bioadditives were presented to Rustam Minnikhanov and his party.

Roseworthy, branch of SARDI is located 50 km away from Adelaide, on campus of Adelaide university. Roseworthy includes a farm, a conference hall, research laboratories, residential buildings and information centre.
