On November 10, at the Pyrimida Entertainment Complex in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who took part in a ceremonial event dedicated to the Police Officers’ Day, congratulated the regional police officers on their professional holiday.
“Our meetings have become a good tradition. This year we are celebrating a special date. One hundred years ago, the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs signed the resolution on the formation of the Workers’ Militia. Over these years law and order soldiers were always on the frontlines – during severe years of the Civil war, on the front lines and on the home front during the Great Patriotic War, during hard postwar time and times of peace of the Soviet period”, Minnikhanov said in his welcoming speech.
He emphasized that examples of courage and commitment of law enforcement officers, their selfless dedication to the law and duty are constantly being added to the history. Protecting the interests of the country, the employees of the Ministry of Internal are always the first on the line of fire in the fight against crime, Tatarstan President said. "You have committed yourselves to a hard but noble profession, often with a risk to life ensuring the well-being and tranquility of citizens."
"We bow our heads to commemorate the bright memory of those who died fulfilling their duties. Their feats serve as an example of courage, honor and self-sacrifice,” Minnikhanov said.
Tatarstan President expressed special words of gratitude to veterans who made a worthy contribution to the protection of the rule of law, and pass on their invaluable experience and best traditions to the new generation of defenders.
Minnikhanov stressed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic has been and remains one of the best regional branches in the system of internal affairs of the country. "Thanks to your efforts, the number of offenses has been reduced, and the crime detection rate has improved. Over the years, the Tatarstan police has been among the top ten regional Departments of Internal Affairs of Russia," he said.
According to him, the preservation of peace and tranquility is of particular urgency in modern conditions. The stable situation in the republic is largely due to the law-enforcement officers, he said. Minnikhanov noted the need to continue to severely suppress all terrorist attempts to destabilize the situation, without admitting even the slightest manifestations of extremism.
Minnikhanov added that the daily hard work to ensure public order, prevent offences and detect crimes is always in the focus of attention. "The republic has always paid and will pay special attention to your service. I congratulate you!"
