On December 11, in Innopolis, Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Nikolai Nikiforov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Russia Lyubov Yeltsova and Director General of the Union of Young Professionals (Worldskills Russia) Robert Urazov took part in the opening of the first WorldSkills indsutry competition in the field of information technology - Digital Skills.
In his welcoming speech, Nikiforov noted that as part of the Digital Skills industry championship it is planned to train industry skills and prepare for the WorldSkills Competition-2019 to be held in Kazan. "It is a great honor for the entire Russian IT and communications industry to take part in Digital Skills events. We are pleased that our colleagues from other countries have joined us. I know that there are teams from Iran, South Africa. We are glad that this event has become international," the Russian Minister said.
Nikiforov also thanked participants who came from other Russian regions and representatives of companies who agreed to support Digital Skills with their professional experts and paid attention to the issues of development of professional skills in general.
The development of the digital economy is impossible without qualified personnel, the minister said. He noted that the development of IT education in the regions of Russia is a strategic task set by the country's leadership. Russian President Vladimir Putin has stressed several times that the digital economy is the most important area of the future, Nikiforov emphasized.
In his turn, Minnikhanov added that this championship will contribute to training specialists for new high-tech branches of industry.
