18 January 2018, Thursday

On January 18, speaking at a summing-up meeting of the regional State Committee for Archival Affairs, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that serious work to reorganize the archives at all levels is underway in Tatarstan and appreciated the work of the committee.

"The regional State Committee for Archival Affairs has fulfilled the tasks set and its work should be appraised," he said.

Pesoshin briefly told the meeting about the economic results of the republic in the past year.

"There is no doubt that archival documents are a strategic resource of any state," Pesoshin said. “This is confirmed by the decision of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to reassign the Russian archival agency directly to the head of the state. The Federal Archival Agency was given the authority to regulate state records and paperwork management."

According to Pesoshin, improving the status of the archival service of the republic makes it possible to expand and effectively use the powers to organize and control municipal and departmental archives.
