Rustam Minnikhanov: We carry out solid work on creating programs for distant learning of Tatar language in the Internet

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met with teachers of Tatar language of Moscow and Moscow region. The meeting was held in Moscow comprehensive school with ethnic-cultural Tatar component №1186.

Rustam Minnikhanov and his party looked over the school building, visited study rooms, gym, and saw the exposition of school ethnographic museum “Museum of Tatar people”.

Currently 370 pupils study at the school. 70 % of them are Tatars, others represent more than 30 nationalities.

Besides the basic program extra disciplines are taught in the school - Tatar language and literature, history of Tatar people, national cookery, national wrestling “kuresh” (belt wrestling), applied arts.

The school was named after Hero of the Soviet Union Musa Jalil. A memorial to the hero poet was unveiled in 2008 on the territory of school.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked teachers for paying much attention to Tatar language, culture, customs and history of Tatar people. He marked solid work on creating programs for distant learning of Tatar language in the Internet and history of Tatar people is being implemented in Tatarstan.

Moscow comprehensive school № 1186 with ethnic-cultural Tatar component opened in 1997 with active assistance of the first Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev. In 2007 the school moved to a new 4-floor building. The school is located in Lyublino region (Belorechenskaya street).

Two museums are functioning now in the school – “Museum of Tatar people” and military-patriotic museum “Legends of intelligence”.

The school participates in the project “Moscow on the way to world culture” realized by the Moscow Department of education. A city experimental site “Formation of artistic-cultural environment as the factor of ethnic development and socialization of students in modern megapolis” is also functioning on the school base.
