Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin expresses his gratitude to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan for ensuring the security at the World Cup 2018

On July 19, an extended meeting of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan, chaired by the Minister, Lieutenant-General Artem Khokhorin, with participation of Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin was held, at which they summed up the results of the work of the agency during the first half of 2018.

Opening the meeting, Khokhorin emphasized that crime rate per 100,000 population still remains significantly lower in Tatarstan than the average in the Russian Federation and the Volga region. As many as 20,987 crimes were registered and 12,535 were solved in the republic in the first half of 2018.

In his speech, Pesoshin emphasized that the Ministry has achieved good results in the main areas of operational and official activities in the first half of the current year. In addition to carrying out the day-to-day official duties, one of the most important and responsible tasks of the agency in this period, was the prevention and suppression of any offenses and terrorist acts during the preparation and holding of matches of the World Cup 2018 in Kazan.

He also noted that the forces of the Ministry provided security at 30 sports and support facilities, infrastructure facilities of the Championship and also maintained law and order in the streets, parks and places of tourist activity in Kazan.

“The results of the operative-service and military activity detail of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed the accuracy of the calculations, forces and means. The work done by the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs was highly appreciated by the Organizing Committee "Russia-2018", the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and of Tatarstan. On behalf of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and the Government of the republic, I express my gratitude to all of you for your dedicated service,” Pesoshin concluded.
