Tatarstan and India to develop further cooperation

The Republic of Tatarstan and India are both extremely interested in cooperation.
Such a statement was made by Director of the Department for external relations under RT President – Aide to RT President on international issues Iskander Muflikhanov after the meeting of RT President Rustam Minnikhanov with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Russian Federation Mr Ajai Malhotra. The event was held in the Kazan Kremlin.
Answering questions of mass media Iskander Muflikhanov informed that Tatarstan and India maintain cooperation in such spheres as pharmacy and pharmacology, mechanical engineering, including production of auto components, IT, education and culture. He marked that 130 Indian students study at Kazan (Volga) Federal University and their number is growing.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to RF Mr Ajai Malhotra told in turn that a Memorandum on mutual understanding was signed with K(V)FU on March, 13. In the context of the document India will gift books about history and development of India and its culture to the university library. Besides, India Study Center will be opened in K(V)FU.
Tourism is rapidly developing as well, Ajai Malhotra marked. The tourist flow from Russia to India is growing.
Ajai Malhotra answered questions of journalists about cooperation between JSC KAMAZ and work of joint enterprise in India.
Aide to RT President on international issues Iskander Muflikhanov added that JSC KAMAZ and India have serious plans for development. The joint enterprise is now ready to reach new production level - 5 thousand cars per year.
Ajai Malhotra also reminded that India is one of the biggest customers of the Kazan helicopter plant.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
