Igor Shuvalov holds meeting on issues of preparation for Universiade -2013

Issues of preparation for the World summer student games -2013 have been discussed at a meeting chaired by the RF Vice-premier Igor Shuvalov in Kazan. The Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, the Russian minister of sport Vitaly Mutko, PM of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov, chiefs of federal and republican ministries and agencies attended the meeting at the RT Government House.

Issues of transport service of Universiade-2013 were discussed at the meeting. Vice RF Minister of transport Nikolay Asaul said that 525 buses are needed for holding student games. Since Hyundai Company is the partner of Universiade, its cars and buses were presented to Igor Shuvalov today.

According to Nikolay Asaul, 154 touristic buses purchased for Universiade-2013 are likely to be used at Olympic Games in Sochi.

Director-general of the Executive office Universiade-2013 Vladimir Leonov informed that the project of arranging intermodal transportation from the Kazan center to the airport had been discussed at the meeting. According to Vladimir Leonov, Igor Shuvalov drove through the new railway line with the inspection detour.

“We have received confirmation from OAO RZHD (Russian railways) that all works are implemented in accordance with the schedule and are nearly finished,” Vladimir Leonov said.

Information about the held session of the Supervision council of the Universiade Executive office and issues discussed was presented to Igor Shuvalov.

“We have also visited several objects today, i.e. new stadium under construction, the Aquatic Palace, the Gymnastics Center, the recruitment center of volunteers. In addition, the program of reconstructing facades of houses following the Universiade routes was presented. Igor Shuvalov appreciated the work being fulfilled in Kazan,” Vladimir Leonov said.
