On June 9, at the Volga Region State Academy of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism in Kazan, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, Head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Russia Mikhail Chernikov, Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic Shamil Gafarov, Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Rafis Burganov and other officials took part in the closing ceremony of the All-Russia Contest for Young Traffic Inspectors "Safe Wheel 2019".
As many as 340 schoolchildren from 85 regions of Russia arrived in Kazan to participate in the contest at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Centre. Young inspectors demonstrated knowledge of traffic rules, methods of first aid, skillful driving a bicycle and much more.
“Children got the opportunity to be actively involved in events to prevent road traffic injuries, to inspire peers and adults to behave safely in traffic with their own example,” the Prime Minister noted.
He reminded that Kazan hosted the contest for the third time. The contest was held in the capital of the republic in 1986 and 2006. “I am sure that the skills and knowledge you gained will definitely be useful in the future. You can always take care not only of your safety, but also help people to be literate road users,” Pesoshin said.
