On July 13, Head of the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service Igor Artemyev, First Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Rustam Nigmatullin, Chairman of the Board of Russian Rugby Federation Druzhinin Stanislav and other officials took part in the opening ceremony of the Rugby Europe Women’s Sevens Olympic Qualifier Tournament held at the Central Stadium in Kazan.
The Russian women's national rugby sevens team became the winner of the European Championship in the capital of Tatarstan in 2017 and 2018.
This year, the list of participants of the upcoming tournament in Kazan was formed at the first stage of the European Championship and included France, Russia, Moldova, Ireland, Spain, Poland, Italy, Romania, the Czech Republic, England, Germany and Sweden.
On behalf of the Russian Rugby Federation, Artemyev welcomed all the participants and fans who came to the tournament. He thanked the leadership of the republic and its government for the excellent organization of competitions, one of the many sport events that take place here on the hospitable land of Tatarstan.
Artemyev wished the athletes to show a good game, to do without injuries, to gain good impressions of the big sport.
In his turn, Nigmatullin also welcomed everyone on behalf of Tatarstan President and on behalf of the Government of the republic.
He also wished all teams bright games and fair play.
