Minister of Agriculture of the republic: As many as 26 per cent of grain crops have been harvested in Tatarstan

On August 17, at the Government House of the republic, speaking at a video conference held by First Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Nigmatullin, Minister  of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Akhmetov reported on the progress made in harvesting grain crops in Tatarstan.

The Minister said that as many as 377,000 hectares of grain crops have been harvested in the republic, which makes 26 per cent. A total of 1.2 million tons of grain have been threshed. The average yield is 31.8 centners per hectare.

He went on to report that over 500,000 hectares of winter crops and barley are ripe.  However, due to heavy rainfall and strong winds, farms are suffering losses. Akhmetov called on farmers to increase the pace of harvesting. The Minister added that incentive measures have been developed for harvesters in almost all regions of the republic.

Akhmetov reminded that today preparations are underway for winter sowing. The Minister also emphasized that the sowing campaign should be completed by the 5th of September.
