12 September 2012, Wednesday
Coordination Council for work with representations of the Republic of Tatarstan abroad and in Russian regions is meant to be established in Tatarstan. It has been discussed at a meeting with representatives of Tatarstan abroad and in Russian regions. The meeting was held by the Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at the RT Government House.
Welcoming participants of the event, head of republic reminded that the institute of RT representations had been functioning for 20 years. Every representation has its own status. Regulatory framework and requirements were defined according to the current tasks faced by Tatarstan.
“We suppose that representations of the Republic of Tatarstan abroad and in Russian regions must use all available resources and evaluate prospects of future activity, taking into account those changes happening in Tatarstan,” Rustam Minnikhanov said. He noted that Tatarstan is one of the most industrially developed regions in the country, many republican projects are implemented in other subjects of the federation.
Rustam Minnikhanov believes that preparation for summer Universiade 2013, World Football Championship 2018 and events organised in the context of APEC (June 2012) made republic recognizable in the world. Tatarstan representations should consolidate these positions by increasing the Tatarstan status and attracting potential investors to republic.
Rustam Minnikhanov supposes that there is no need to establish a certain body to manage representations. By the way, it may be useful to create a Coordination Council for work with representations of the Republic of Tatarstan abroad and in Russian regions that can help to build the system of interaction and develop a plan of further work for representations.
The Coordination Council will comprise representatives of the Tatarstan Ministry of industry and trade, the Department for external relations under the RT President, the Investment Development Agency, the World Congress of Tatars and Aide to the RT President on foreign economic activity.
Representatives of the Republic of Tatarstan abroad and in Russian regions shared their ideas about further activity. In particular, they suggested transferring to cluster principle of work, meaning that the Tatarstan representative will work not only in one region or country, but in neighboring regions as well.
The following issues were also discussed at the meeting: the problem of staff training and rotation, interaction with the Tatar diaspora abroad, organization of national holidays, education of the Tatar students from abroad in Tatarstan, teaching the Tatar language for representatives of the Tatar diaspora during the holidays.
