On October 1, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated the elderly citizens of the republic on the International Day of Older Persons.
“Dear old stagers of the Republic of Tatarstan! On my own behalf and on behalf of the Government let me congratulate you on the International Day of Older Persons.
The 1st of October was declared the International Day of Older Persons by the UN General Assembly in 1990 in order to increase social significance and attention to the problems of the elderly people. This holiday is not a reminder of age, but a day of expressing our common gratitude for selfless work, for bringing up the younger generation, for involvement in the life of the republic, and a day of special attention to every old stager.
This day gives an opportunity for every member of our society to think about the fate of the older generation, to express their gratitude and love to people who have come a long way of life, who have wise knowledge and experience, who have made an invaluable contribution to the development of the country and the republic.
People whose work and creative intentions, intelligence and professional experience have become a decisive force in achieving the most striking, significant success, whose human and civic feat and selfless love for their native land are the focus for all subsequent generations have always been the main wealth of our country.
Many old stagers, despite their age, are still doing active public work, are engaged in military-patriotic and moral education of the younger generation. Please accept our sincere appreciation and gratitude for what you have done and continue to do for the country and the republic. We do appreciate your experience and wisdom, which are our support in solving the most important tasks of the socio-economic development of the republic.
Let me once again congratulate you on International Day of Older Persons. I wish you peace and prosperity, live long, and prosper. Happy holiday, dear friends!”
