Mintimer Shaimiev, Vice-governor of Central Macedonia and ICCROM experts visit the island town of Sviyazhsk

Tatarstan’s State Counselor and Chairman of the Board of guardians of the Republican Foundation “Vozrozhdenie” (“Renaissance”) Mintimer Shaimiev, first Vice-governor of the Central Macedonia (Greece) Mr Kostas Karapanagiotidis, chief of the UNESCO Greece department for preservation of architectural monuments Mr Avraam Kassiteridis, Director-General of ICCROM Mr Stefano De Caro and special adviser of Director General of the United Nations Organisation on issues of education, science and culture Mr Munir Bushenaki have visited historical monuments of the island town of Sviyazhsk.
Stefano De Caro and Munir Bushenaki arrived in Tatarstan as experts of ICCROM, the organisation providing support in the sphere of preservation of objects included in UNESCO World heritage list.
After studying methods of restoration works in Sviyazhsk and Bolgar they will pass their final statement to the World Heritage Committee. Members of the Committee will consider the issues of including these objects in UNESCO World heritage list.
Guests visited the Trinity church, Joy of All Who Sorrow Church, the Dormition Cathedral and brethren's building of the Dormition of the Mother of God Monastery.
Munir Bushenaki said that he was glad to see the scope of works fulfilled under the guidance of Mintimer Shaimiev.
“I am pleased to see the attentive and careful attitude of Mintimer Shaimiev to recommendations of the international society, governmental and nongovernmental organizations in the sphere of preservation of the cultural heritage. We want Sviyazhsk and Bolgar to be announced the objects of the world heritage,” Munir Bushenaki said.
Saying about the recent trip to Central Macedonia, Mintimer Shaimiev said that he was impressed by the people’s attitude to archeological works notwithstanding any hardships.
On March 10, the third meeting of the organizing committee on preparation and holding of the 20th anniversary Russian Venture Forum 2026 to be held in Kazan from April 8 to 10, chaired by Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov and with participation of Tatarstan Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and co-chair of the forum’s organizing committee Aleksey Pesoshin, President of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan Rifkat Minnikhanov, Director of the Investment and Venture Fund of Tatarstan Damir Galiev as well as representatives of federal and regional authorities, development institutions and partner organizations via videoconference, took place.
On 10 March, speaking at a briefing dedicated to the development of the national Max messenger in Tatarstan and held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communication of the republic Ilya Nachvin informed that according to the data of March 2026 about 1.5m residents of Tatarstan use domestic Max messenger.
On 5 February Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in ceremony of awarding winners of the regional competition “The Woman of the Year. The Man of the Year: A Woman’s View” held at the Korston Leisure and Recreation Center in Kazan.
On 4 March at a briefing in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Minister of Land and Property Relation Fanil Agliullin told about changes in land legislation enforced from 1 March of the current year. He said that they simplify a number of procedures for land plot owners including expanding the possibilities for land use and changing the rules for changing the category of a plot.
