Nikolay Patrushev holds meeting on issues of Universiade safety

A joint field meeting of Secretary of the RF Security Council and Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in Volga Federal District has been held in Kazan.
The session was held at the Kazan City Hall by Secretary of the RF Security Council Nikolay Patrushev. Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, the Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, heads of entities of the VFD participated in the meeting.
Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich said that regions of the VFD had to ensure Universiade safety by joint efforts.
“Though enormous work has been done, there is a wide range of problems in terms of safety assurance to be solved in the nearest months,” Plenipotentiary of the Russian President said.
According to Plenipotentiary, issues of interdepartmental interaction of various law enforcement structures, ministries, and agencies and trainings are on the agenda.
Secretary of the RF Security Council Nikolay Patrushev noted that preparation and holding of Universiade in Kazan was one of the most large-scale projects realised by the federal center, the Republic of Tatarstan, other entities of the Russian Federation, different organisations and institutions.
Nikolay Patrushev informed that 15 thousand sportsmen from 170 countries, 3 thousand media representatives, 100 thousand guests would come to Kazan. Such event requires taking a set of safety measures.
23 thousand employees of law enforcement agencies and military personnel of the interior troops of the Russian Ministry of the interior are to be involved in implementation of safety assurance measures during preparation and holding of Universiade.
Nikolay Patrushev mentioned the work on preparation for the Games fulfilled by the Tatarstan leadership.
However, there is a set of problems that must be solved quickly. One of them is transport safety. For now, not all objects of transport infrastructure are equipped with technical devices and safety systems.
State fire supervision at Universiade objects is also a priority task.
Restriction of service and civilian weapons circulation, non-admission of fireworks at sports events is still a very urgent issue.
Moreover, it is necessary to reinforce personnel of operational subdivisions, police commissioners and Patrol-guard service involved in protection of sports venues.
The Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov summarized today’s meeting in the interview. He stressed that a large amount of work was conducted on ensuring safety during preparation and holding of Universiade 2013.

On 24 April in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin held a joint meeting the Council for Enforcement of Legislation of Languages of Tatarstan and the organizational committee for celebrations of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay which summarized results of work of the regional law enforcement on official languages of the republic and considered progress of the implementation of the plan of main events for preparation and celebration of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay .
On 21 April, speaking at a briefing in the Government House of the republic, the Head of the Russian Federal Tax Service for Tatarstan Marat Safiullin said that slightly more than one week is left to file an income tax return for 2025 with the tax service. According to the results of the tax campaign 5.5.bn rubles should come to the regional budget, he said and informed who should submit declarations and who is entitled to benefits.
On 13 April in his congratulatory address on the occasion of the Maecenas and Benefactor Day, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: "Tatarstan has always been known for its generous and kind-hearted people who are ready to help the needy and support important social, cultural and educational projects.
