Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in session of High Level Cooperation Council in Istanbul

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov participated in the third session of Turkey-Russia High Level Cooperation Council during his working trip to Istanbul. The session was chaired by the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Heads of two states conducted bilateral negotiations and participated in session of the Council at Dolmabahce Palace.

Arrangements about establishment of High Level Cooperation Council, an absolutely new mechanism of Russia-Turkey intergovernmental consultations, were reached during the visit of Vladimir Putin to Turkey in August 2009. Co-chairmen of the council are President of Russia and Prime Minister of Turkey. The first session of the council was held in May of 2010 in Ankara.

The Council is a managing body that develops the strategy and main lines of development of relationships between Russia and Turkey. It also coordinates realization of important projects within the framework of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

Government officials of two countries responsible for main discussed issues participate in session of the council.

According to results of the current session more than 10 documents have been signed. In particular, the parties signed cooperation agreement aimed at foundation of a joint enterprise in the sphere of marketing and distribution between Rosneft and Çalik Holding, the medium-term program of trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation between two countries for 2012-2015, the joint statement between the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM and Turkish Ministry of energy under the project of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.

Besides, Memorandum of cooperation Concerning the Counteraction of the Legitimization of the Proceeds of Crime and the Financing of Terrorism, intergovernmental agreement concerning foundation and activity of cultural centers, and plan of actions of the Russia-Turkey public forum have been signed.
