On February 29, at the Government House of the republic, speaking at a video-conference held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with participation of all municipalities of the republic, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Nail Zalakov reported on the preparation for spring fieldwork and the procurement of mineral fertilizers.
“This winter was not typical. There was no frost and there was less snow than usual. Snow melted in February because of warm temperatures. It is likely that fieldwork will begin earlier than usual,” Zalakov reported.
According him, the work will be primarily with winter crops. As many as 494 thousand hectares of winter crops have been sown in the republic since autumn, and their condition is generally good. The Agricultural Centre monitored their condition throughout the winter period.
In general, there are 88.5 thousand tonnes of fertilizers or 31.7 kilograms of active ingredient per hectare in the republic at the moment, which is 3.0 kilograms of active ingredient per hectare more as compared to the same period last year, Zalakov went on to report.
Commenting on the report, Minnikhanov said that the issue of the accumulation of fertilizers is important to agricultural producers every year. He asked to take the procurement of fertilizers seriously, since the future crop ultimately depends on it.
