Rustam Minnikhanov: “Universiade is a maturity test for security system”

On May 7 an extended session of Tatarstan Security Council, Coordination meeting on ensuring law and order, Anti-terrorist commission and Operation Headquarters was held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov at the Kazan Kremlin.
Heads of republican ministries, agencies, territorial bodies of federal structures, supervision bodies, energy and transport enterprises, hazardous production facilities, directors of sport venues were invited to the event.
Issues of integrated security of Universiade, readiness of manpower and resources that will ensure public order during international sport forum were discussed at the meeting.
Opening the event, Rustam Minnikhanov said that the preparation process is on the home straight. Responsible agencies and enterprises take major efforts on ensuring integrated security. It concerns anti-terrorist security, traffic safety, stable energy, proper operation of enterprises, and ecological wellbeing.
Competitions will be held at 50 sport venues, of which 32 are meant for holding competitions, 18 – for training. There are three support facilities – “Kazan-Arena” football stadium, Universiade Village, and International Information Centre. The International Information Centre and Centre of Public Security have been put into operation. Work on ensuring security and protection measures is carried out at Universiade objects.
Rustam Minnikhanov focused on energy and transport security, and unauthorized discharge of sewage waters in Middle Kaban Lake.
Heads of operations units reported on readiness of manpower and resources and availability of special machinery and equipment.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
