Speaking at a routine Saturday meeting, held with all municipalities of the republic by videoconference, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has said that the number of patients with COVID-19 has tripled over the last week and a new spike of pandemic is caused by spreading of the new OMICRON strain. Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin also took part in the meeting.
Minnikhanov reminded the participants of the meeting about sanitary protective and preventive measures and said” The new strain is rapidly spreading both among adults and children that is why it is necessary to follow strictly all regulations of work of entrance filters at schools as they helped to reveal a big number of both schoolchildren and teachers who were sick. The Ministry of Science and Education of the republic together with the Tatarstan Department of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Agency for Surveillance of Human Rights and Wellbeing) should monitor the situation”.
“At the same time there are no plans to move to distant learning The school should continue its work but it is also important to comply with all Rospotrebnadzor requirements as the main task for disease prevention is to break the chain of the infectious disease dissemination and to elude large number of those sick. The following two weeks are expected to be rather tough and we should be ready for that”, Tatarstan President said.
He also addressed parents asking them to keep those children who are at home on quarantine from going out and contacting other children and reminded that the COVID-19 vaccination is going on in the republic and 193 kids at the age of 12-17 have got shots already.
