The Head of the Tatarstan Department of Rospotrebnadzor Marina Patyashina: Spreading of the OMICRON strain has influenced the epidemiological situation in the republic

Speaking at a routine Saturday meeting, held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, the Head of the the Tatarstan Department of Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Agency for Surveillance of Human Rights and Wellbeing) Marina Patyashina has reported that the total number of people sick with COVID-19 in the republic has made 47 536  from the beginning of the pandemic.

She said that in 36% of cases of the disease in December 2021 and the current January was patients with OMICRON strain “which definitely has influenced the epidemiological siltation in the republic” Thus in the third decade of January the morbidity increased for more than 5 times”, she added.

She reminded about main symptoms of the strain and said that the number of sick children and teenagers has grown 11 times.

Speaking about the vaccination in the republic, Patyashina said that the plan is to vaccinate 80 per cent of adult population or 2 437278 people and 2 383 796 of them have already been vaccinated and added that 183 000 people has already got a booster shot.

Informing about checks carried out on keeping epidemiological requirements, the Head of the Tatarstan Department of Rospotrebnadzor has said that they found violations at 168 out of 722 facilities audited in January and imposed more than 1m roubles of fines.

She concluded by telling about 261 checks carried out at catering and trading  institutions and work of the entrance filters at schools of the republic. In particular she said that in two weeks of the current January alone, 7 296 children and 523 teachers were not let into schools.
