Speaking at a reporting meeting of the Council of the Yelabuga municipality on results of social and economic development of the region in 2021 and tasks for 2022 held in Yelabuga, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin briefly informed the participants about situation in the republic.
“We have been living under the conditions of the Corona virus pandemic for two years already and the main task for power bodies at all levels is fighting the COVID-19, decreasing the incidence rate and returning the society to normal way of life. Nevertheless the measures taken both at the federal and regional levels made it possible to implement successfully large-scale tasks of social economic development and public character in 2021” he said.
Pesoshin stated that the year was also successful for development of branches of economy and “the republic is traditionally among leaders in the country ranking the 7th in retail trade turnover, the 6th in RGP and investments into the main assets, 5th in the amount of supplied products and construction and the 4th in agriculture. In the current year we are counting on maintaining the economic growth at the level of no less than 103.6%”.
Last year the Ministry of Labour of the republic allocated nearly 23bn roubles on the social support of the population, including 6.5bn given to families with children and 647.5m roubles allocated to social support of residents of Yelabuga region, he informed.
Pesoshin went on, saying: “By the results of 11 months of 2021 the average salaries in the Yelabuga region are higher compared to those in the republic and reach 48 991.4 roubles ranking it the 6th among other municipalities”.
Speaking about the residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister said that last year about 40 000 people came here for permanent residence. “However, even though the republic is the first in the Volga federal district in birth rate, we can see there is a tendency to its decrease and in 2021 only 40 936 babies were born which was by 662 babies fewer than in the previous year”.
As far as the Yelabuga municipality is concerned, 806 babies were born here in 2021 and there is a positive growth of number of migrants, he said.
Speaking about federal and regional programs aimed at development of favourable environment for life and realization of personal potential of residents, Pesoshin informed that 44 regional, 12 federal projects and 6 state programs were implemented in the republic in 2021 with the total amount of 96bn 581 roubles invested into construction and capital overhaul of social infrastructure facilities.
He said that in 2021 Yelabuga region ranked 11th in the social and economic development of cities and regions of the republic and was the 6th in the amount of RGP and the 5th in industrial production He said that amount of supplied goods of the Special Economic Zone of Alabuga, which is the leading investments platform not only in the republic but is the best in the country, makes 66 per cent of the total amount of goods supplied from Yelabuga region.
Touching issues of agriculture in the region, Pesoshin said: “The region has considerably improved its situation in livestock breeding. The amount of produced milk grew by 1.5 times and currently you produce about 60 tonnes of milk daily. However, your region is only 37th in the small farms ranking”.
The share of SMEs in the economy of the region makes only 22.4 per cent ranking it only 39th in the republic but this can be explained but the large industrial enterprises share in the GTP, he continued.
Pesoshin said that during the pandemic, which gave a strong impetus to e-trade,” more than 19 thousand Tatarstan suppliers are using e-platforms to offer their goods and the e-trade turnover reached 20bn roubles in 2021”.
“Due to its unique historical and architectural heritage Yelabuga is one of the most attractive tourist centers of the republic and last year more than 487 thousand tourists visited it which was twice as many as in 2020”, - Tatarstan Prime Minister went on.
Speaking about utility services and decreasing of emergency situations in the utilities infrastructure, Pesoshin noted positive changes in the Yelabuga Water Main Company. “Today we have seen results of the reconstruction of sewage treatment facilities which cost more than 1.4bn roubles both to the federal and local budgets. This modernization is a good example of joint work of the local administration with the SEZ Alabuga” – he said.
Giving his comments on issues of the pandemic, the Tatarstan Prime Minister said: “Due to large scale vaccination nearly 99 per cent of adults in the republic have got immunization and four structural units of the central regional hospital and four mobile units are carrying out vaccination in Yelabuga region”.
He went on, saying: “In the last five years the adult and children’s policlinics of the central regional hospital, the women's health clinic underwent major overhaul, 6 modular feldsher-midwife stations and four outpatient facilities were built and equipped in the region. The work is to be continued in 2022, but we should also pay much attention to the stuffing issues of these facilities”.
The Prime Minister concluded that the improvement of wellbeing and life of people are priorities both for the republic and regional administration.
