Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture Marat Zyabbarov: 2022 is the year of 100th anniversary of establishment of the agronomical amelioration system

On 19 February, speaking at a videoconference held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with all municipalities of the republic with participation of the Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, the regional Minister of Agriculture Marat Zyabbarov reported on situation in the agronomical amelioration.

Speaking at the meeting, Zyabbarov said that Tatarstan enjoys a number of substantial advantages for successful development of agronomical amelioration and ranks the first in Volga Federal District in supply of river waters to the population, having unique river systems. In addition there are more than 800 artificial water bodies, 450 of which underwent capital overhaul by the presidential program.  In the total the water resources of the republic made possible the irrigation of more than 400 thousand hectares of land, he added.

Reporting about results of work in the last three years, the Minister said that after the abnormal drought season in 2015 more than 32 thousand irrigated land was reclaimed and more than 200km of water pipelines were laid. The republic also build and commissioned 6 large amelioration facilities with the total area of 2 400 hectares within the federal targeted investments program “Development of amelioration” which is by 100 per cent financed from the federal budget.  

In addition to federal agronomical amelioration program, the republic finances five more spheres which are in demand both of small farms and large agribusiness holdings, he said

Another important program is the capital overhaul and construction of hydraulic engineering structures which has been working successfully since 2012.

However, the program ends in 2022 but there still are more than 170 hydraulic engineering structures and dams needing capital overhaul, the Minister said and asked Tatarstan President to support prolongation of the regional program and the plans of organizing celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Tatarstan agronomical amelioration in 2022.
