On 22 March the Russian Deputy Head of the government Yuriy Borisov and Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin visited production facilities of the KAMAZ Automaker in Naberezhnyye Chelny.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister got acquainted with manufacture of trucks and plans of the company in working under sanctions and development of company’s own units and components production lines and watched the work of the main assembly line of the plant.
Director General of KAMAZ Sergey Kogogin, who accompanied them round the tour, told that currently the plant is starting production of K3 trucks. ”We have started the work inside our company to increase production of our own components and units. K3 trucks are deeply localized as there is practically nothing imported there”, he said and added that in the first quarter of 2023 it is planned to start manufacture of K5 trucks on localized component base.
Talking go the press, Yuriy Borisov said that the Russian Government will consider measures to support the domestic automakers, including KAMAZ, making import replacement as soon as possible.
He said that the Chelny Auto Major will be given help in the sphere of gas and electric vehicles.
Borisov added that there are no plans to cut the production volume and the plant will continue its work. And the exit of foreign competitors from the market will let KAMAZ take the larger share of the Russian market, he concluded.
