On April 13, First Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Rustam Nigmatullin held a videoconference of the Commission for the Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations and Ensuring Fire Safety of the republic, which discussed the main issue of the meeting - preparation for the fire season of 2022 in Tatarstan.

Nigmatullin said that in 2021, 26 forest wildfires were registered in the republic, including 19 fires on forestlands. Direct damage from them amounted to more than 6 million roubles. There were also 2,068 fires in the republic because of the burning of dry grass, garbage, solid household waste on an area of about 1 million square meters.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan also said that the Cabinet of Ministers of Tatarstan adopted a Decree “On the establishment of a special fire regime on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan”.

This Act provides a set of preventive measures. From April 25 to May 15, a complete prohibition is introduced on burning dry grass and garbage throughout the country, as well as cooking on the open fire in settlements, Nigmatullin said.

Tatarstan Minister of Forestry Ravil Kuzyurov made a report and provided preliminary forecast data on fire hazards in the forests for April-September 2022. Under the conditions of the special fire-fighting regime in the territory of Tatarstan, administrative responsibility for violations of fire safety requirements doubles. Thus, the fine for citizens will be increased from 2 to 4 thousand roubles. Violators among officials will have to pay 30 thousand roubles, instead of 15 thousand roubles. Legal entities violating fire safety requirements will be fined 400,000 roubles.
