In his congratulation with the 350th birthday of Peter the Great, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin has written:
“Dear Tatarstan residents and compatriots!
Today is the 350th birthday of Peter the Great – the great tsar-reformer, the first Russian Emperor and the outstanding state leader.
Large scale reforms of Peter I touched all spheres of public and economic life from building the fleet, management system and whole industries to changes in everyday life, establishment of scientific institutions and organization of the first museum.
Due to reforms of Peter the Great, Kazan became the shipbuilding and woolen manufacture center, the capital of the largest gubernia and the backbone of the Russian army and navy.
It was Peter I who issued a decree on protection of historical and architectural monuments, thus laying legislative foundation for accounting and preservation of cultural heritage sites in Russia.
Republic of Tatarstan estimably celebrates the 350th birthday of Peter the Great. In this red-letter day, from the bottom of my heart I wish all you good health, well-being and all the best.”
