22 July 2022, Friday

On July 22, speaking at the Government House of the republic at a joint meeting of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy and the Operational Headquarters for ensuring socio-economic stability in the republic with participation of Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy Maksim Topilin, First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Vasily Osmakov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia Dmitry Vakhrukov, State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Finance of Russia Aleksey Sazanov, representatives of regional ministries and departments and heads of enterprises, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that under restrictions pressure from Western countries, Tatarstan enterprises are developing new logistics links and reorienting their production to other markets.

Pesoshin emphasized that because of the unprecedented restrictions pressure on Russia in the shortest time a plan for sustainable development of the economy was prepared and the Operational Headquarters was established in the republic.

Priority tasks included the provision of the population with essential goods, maintaining employment and support programmes for the population, the smooth operation of backbone organizations through the creation of new logistics and production chains, as well as ensuring the working capacity of critical infrastructure and helping small businesses in the new environment.

According Tatarstan Prime Minister, the current economic situation has had the greatest impact on the chemical industry, rubber and plastic products, and the production of vehicles. The total share of these areas is 28 per cent of the industrial production of the republic. In addition, the retail trade turnover has decreased. Its share in the economy of the republic is more than 4 per cent. This is also because of the decrease in sales of non-food products.

Because of the imposed restrictions, it is difficult to make payments to foreign parties. In addition, the rouble exchange rate affects the competitiveness of the products of our producers, both in foreign and domestic markets.

Pesoshin emphasized that work on import substitution is carried out with scientific and educational institutions and engineering companies. A working group on issues of import substitution of materials and components in the interests of regional producers was established, which included representatives of «SIBUR Holding», «KAMAZ Automaker», «Tatneft Oil Company» and a number of other enterprises and universities. At the same time, for the smooth operation of enterprises in the short and medium term, it is necessary to make additional decisions at the federal level, Tatarstan Prime said. Relevant proposals have been prepared with the enterprises of the republic.
