Aleksey Pesoshin and Valeriy Gerasimov take part in opening of the Kazan Military Hospital

On 7 September Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the General Staff of Russian Armed Forces, who is also Russian First Deputy Minister of Defense, General Valeriy Gerasimov took part in a ceremonial opening of Kazan Military Hospital which was built and commissioned turn-key by the Military Construction Company.

Speaking at the ceremony, Aleksey Pesoshin expressed his gratitude to Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu for his support and help in taking a decision to build the hospital in Kazan. He stated that Kazan military medicine has rich history which starts from the 18th century when by a decree from Peter the Great a military hospital was built in the city. For more than a century it was the largest military hospital in the east of Russia with nearly all famous medical scientists working here.

“Today history of military medicine gets a new start and the opened hospital is a multi-profile medical institution satisfying all modern requirements. It has all necessary facilities for providing medical help to the military, military pensioners and other categories of citizens entitled to getting medical service in military medical institutions of the Russian Defense Ministry”, he said.

“I am sure that rich experience of military doctors will be used for the benefit of Tatarstan residents. The republic will provide help in staffing the institution with highly qualified specialists”, Pesoshin concluded. 

Valeriy Gerasimov said that the Defense Ministry keeps a special eye on issues of strengthening healthcare system. “Just in 9 months last year the military-construction complex of the Ministry built 30 multifunctional medical institutions and infection departments in 27 entities of Russia. We will continue improvement of treatment and diagnostics basis, build hospitals and improve health of the military” he said. 

After the ceremony, Aleksey Pesoshin and Valeriy Gerasimov walked round the medical complex, got acquainted with its equipment and talked to the staff.
