Mintimer Shaimiev presents golden medal to swimmer Yana Martynova

On July 10 Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev took part in awarding ceremony of winners of swimming competitions within the framework of 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan.
He presented a golden medal to sportswoman from Kazan Yana Martynova, the winner of medley swimming for 400 metres. He also handed silver and bronze medals to Megan Hawthorne (USA) and Sakiko Shimizu (Japan).
Mintimer Shaimiev said that Tatarstan citizens have always been proud of Yana Martynova, who lived up to their expectations and her victory proved high level of sport development in Tatarstan.
“Tatarstan sportsmen have become Russian and European champions in many sports. Today we are glad to see such results. Surely, any region and state faces urgent social problems. We tried to improve living standards of our citizens and due to support of Russian President and Government, efforts of regional leadership we managed to develop sport and build new sports venues. These days I’ve met with Universiade guests who said that after Kazan Universiade it will be very hard to keep the same level of other student games. During Universiade we become known around the world, we are developing. We are joining global dialogue of civilizations,” Mintimer Shaimiev said.
To the point, swimming competitions started today at Aquatics Palace. 638 sportsmen from 76 countries are taking part in competitions. Russian team is presented by 46 swimmers, 10 of them are winners of Olympic Games.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
