Rustam Minnikhanov visits Mercabarna Agro-industrial park in Barcelona

On July 19 Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited logistics and industrial zone “Frank Zone” during his working trip to Barcelona (July 18-19).
Frank zone is located in Sants-Montjuïc region. This logistics zone is known for its location between Barcelona port and airport. Agro-industrial park Mercabarna was also presented to Rustam Minnikhanov.
Mercabarna manages catering facilities at Barcelona domestic market and companies engaged in production, sales, distribution, import and export of fresh-frozen products. The market occupies the territory of 90 hectares and has offices of more than 20 companies located there. The market provides fresh products for Barcelona, Catalonia province, neighboring regions and other European countries.
Director General of Mercabarna Josep Tejedo Fernandez told about activity of Agro-industrial park. He told in particular that among most important factors were location of the industrial park, logistics, use of state-of-the-art technologies in processing and storage of agricultural produce, and observance of sanitary regulations. 25000 employees work every day at Mercabarna. Josep Tejedo Fernandez continued that all earnings are usually directed to update infrastructure, development and use of technologies.
Rustam Minnikhanov said that the experience of Mercabarna Agro-industrial park would be useful for Tatarstan. He added that the republic requires new technologies and standards, well-organised quality management system, phyto- and veterinary control.
It is expected that Russia’s first agricultural complex similar to Mercabarna will be created in New Tura Technopolis. The project will be funded by private investors.
ZAL logistics centre in Barcelona port, one of the best transport hubs in Europe, was also presented to Rustam Minnikhanov.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
