On 21 January, speaking at a videoconference held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with all municipalities of the republic and with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov informed that by the results of 2022 the amount of regional agribusiness products export made 417m dollars which was by 6.9 per cent more compared to 2021. He told that 160 participants of foreign trade from the republic export agribusiness products, 71 per cent of them being produce of fat and oil industry, with forage and feed additives, alcohol and oil-bearing crops production coming second and making 63.5m dollars.

The dairy produce exports reached 8.7m dollars having increased by 2.5 times last year, he said.

The Minister told that currently 20 out of more than 100 manufacturers of Halal products of the republic are exporting their produce to the Customs Union and Persian Gulf countries and reminded that since 2020 the Halal products export increased by 2.6 times and made 6.5m dollars, the key importers being the CIS countries, Mongolia, Palestine, Brazil, Iraq and Egypt.

Marat Zyabbarov informed that because of limitations on export of grain, sugar and sunflower seeds oil, introduced by the Russian Government from March to August last year,  the decrease of export from the republic made 13.2 per cent, the largest decrease of 4.5m dollars  being in sugar export .

The additional fact hampering export activity was that large transnational freight forwarders left Russia which resulted in shortage of railway cars, trucks and ships increasing the shipping time from 1.5 to 3 times on average, the Minister said.

“We think it is expedient to increase priority of investments projects related to transport infrastructure, such as the construction of modern grain elevator of the Sviyazhsk-Zernoprodukt Company with the capacity of 112 500 tonnes of grain and to provide additional support measures for their implementation ,” Marat Zyabbarov said.

He also informed that the Ministry supervises 12 export oriented projects in such spheres as grain storage, processing milk, malt, vegetables and manufacture of food products with the total cost of 14.1bn roubles.
