Rustam Minnikhanov at a ceremonial event on the occasion of the Day of Self Government: The role of municipalities in life of the republic can hardly be overestimated

On 22 April, speaking at a ceremonial event on the occasion of the Day of Self Government  held in the Korston Recreation Center in Kazan, the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated the representatives of municipalities community of the republic with their professional holiday and stressed that the role of municipalities in life of the republic can hardly be overestimated, as the municipality is the basis and the foundation.

“Local power has always been and remains the closest and most understandable link of management for people. All our life goes on locally and both the federal and regional powers first of all talk to you. You are responsible for solving burning problems of everyday life in various spheres of social development, utilities sector, road and transport and other spheres”, he said.

“At the same time local bodies are directly responsible for providing sustainable functioning of cities and regions and rural settlements, further improvement of life quality of our residents, fulfillment of all social liabilities and shaping favorable conditions for upward development of economy and support of SMEs”, Rustam Minnikhanov continued.

“To bring all these tasks to life successfully, we implement national projects and federal and regional programs. At the state level we take all necessary measures for keeping the rate of social and economic development and raising the well-being of our residents. Of course, much depends on fruitful work of local self-government bodies and that is why we attach great attention to the efficiency of their work,” the Rais of Tatarstan concluded.

Rustam Minnikhanov also handed in state awards of the republic and keys from cars to executive committees of municipal regions and urban districts.

The head of the Office of the Rais of the republic Asgat Safarov, the Chairman of the Association of the Tatarstan Municipalities Council Ekzam Gubaydullin, the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and other officials also took part in the event.
