On 2 May, speaking at a briefing dedicated to preparations of events and celebrations of the 78th V-Day held in the Tatarstan Cabinet of Minister, the regional Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Protection Elmira Zaripova informed that currently there are 14 277 WWII veterans living in the republic.
She said that their number decreased for more than thrice in the last five years compared to 46 381 WWII veterans in 2018.
Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva, who also took part in the briefing, said that the veterans and homefront workers asked the administration of the republic to continue the action “The Parade in front of the veteran’s house” and this year educational and youth policy institutions will continue parades and concerts in the yards of the houses where veterans live.
She also informed about such actions as Flags of the Victory, Windows of the Victory and planting trees in memory of the 27m people fallen during the WWII, and asked residents and guests of the republic to be ready and understand the necessity of checks to provide public security in the V-Day.
Leyla Fazleeva emphasized that provision of security during events dedicated to the celebration of the V-Day will be a priority for the organizational committee.
