On 21 September during her working trip to Tatarstan Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko accompanied by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin attended the Samosyrovo landfill in Kazan, where she got acquainted with work done on the landfill re-cultivation.
Answering questions from journalists, Victoria Abramchenko reminded that the Samosyrovo landfill was closed in 2019 and included into the federal project “Clean Country” as it is located in the city.
“You know that our task is to eliminate most hazardous 191 landfills located in cities by the end of 2024. So you see that here the work is nearly finished and done according to the schedule. We are planning to report about re-cultivation of this landfill in November this year,” she said.
Victoria Abramchenko specified that “re-cultivation of this landfill will make it possible to reach the ecological effect for 342 thousand people and it covers 14 hectares. The landfill will be also used for producing landfill gas which then will be burned for production of electricity. And here they have used a unique landfill filtrate technology. I think the project is a large scale one! Due to the federal support residents of Kazan will be able to breathe clean air as landfill gas will not spoil their life any more”.
