About 4bn rubles has been allocated on restoration of cultural heritage sites in Tatarstan

On 17 October, speaking at a briefing in the Government House of the republic, the Chairman of the Tatarstan Committee on Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites Ivan Guschin informed that about 4bn rubles has been allocated on restoration of more than 30 cultural heritage sites in the republic.

“The amount is rather handsome which testifies about deliberate and consistent attention attached to the branch,” he said and stated that the money is allocated taking into consideration priority tasks and technical conditions of the sites.

Soon the restoration of seven large cultural heritage sites will begin in Tatarstan, in particular where the preliminary stages have been completed and all the documents have been developed, Ivan Guschin said.

Having named the sites to be restored, such as the XIX century building of Murtaza-bei milling plant in Baltasy region, the Yekateriniskaya Progymnasium in Yelabuga and a drama theatre in Menzelinsk, the speaker informed that in September of the current year the Astronomical Observatories of Kazan Federal University were inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List. “This achievement became possible due to huge work and personal participation of Mintimer Shaimiev”, Ivan Guschin said.

Speaking about restoration work of the Syuyumbeki Tower in the Kazan Kremlin, the Chairman of the Committee informed that it is going stage-wise, beginning with emergency prevention activities, examination results and design solutions. “The second stage is inclusion of the Tower into the tourist cluster when it will become open for tourist visits”, he concluded.
