Address of Leyla Fazleeva on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions

On 30 October in her address on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva said: 

“Dear Tatarstan residents! October 30 is the  Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions. It is the Day of Atonement to memorize people and events of tragic years in the history of our country.

Millions of people were subject to mass repressions by political motives and 28 volumes of the Book of Memory of the Victims of Political Repressions which carefully keep names of  54 727 former political prisoners who have been forever acquitted from the band of “ the enemy of the people”. In prisons, camps, exiles under the harshest conditions these people retained their best human qualities and belief in people and love for the Motherland!

Our task is to preserve this memory about every case and a person and to pass it to our children and grandchildren, to next generation not letting a slight falsification of pages of our history.

Topical events and actions held in the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repressions are aimed at preservation of the memory and teaching the young generation empathy and how to learn important life lessons from history of Russia.”

In conclusion of her address Leyla Fazleeva wished many years of life and good health to everyone who survived unfair accusations and managed to maintain patriotism, humanity and dignity.
