Rustam Minnikhanov meets with compatriots living in USA and Canada

On September 17 during his working visit to Boston Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met with compatriots living in USA and Canada. Students and post-graduate students, who study at American universities, activists of Tatar communities took part in the meeting.
Welcoming participants of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov said he was glad that Tatar people managed to find each other so far away from their Motherland, united and do their best to keep traditions, native language and culture. He continued that USA and Canada are business economic partners of Tatarstan, and members of Tatar community help to develop cooperation between the countries.
Rustam Minnikhanov told about projects TNV planet, the online programme for learning the Tatar language “Ana tele” aimed at helping Tatars living abroad to keep their traditions and culture that are being implemented in the republic.
Compatriots who came from Canada informed about Tatar communities in Montreal and Toronto that help Tatar people to maintain their identity, not to forget their national cuisine and native language. Sabantui holiday has been held in Toronto since 2004.
Participants of the meeting noted that they visited Kazan in 2012 to take part in the 5th meeting of the World Congress of Tatars, and in spring 2014 they are going to come again to participate in events within the framework of the World Congress of Russian young compatriots.
A concert was held for Rustam Minnikhanov and his party, where Tatars sang songs in their native language and showed other performances.
At the end of the event, compatriots offered Rustam Minnikhanov to hold such a meeting in New York as well.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
On 1 December Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in N.I. Lobachevsky Prize and Medal Award Ceremony held in Kazan Federal University and handed in the award to the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief Researcher of the St. Petersburg Department of Steklov Mathematical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Ivanov who was awarded for the outstanding achievements in fundamental and applied mathematics.
